First, let me thank you for visiting our website.  Some of you are customers who are passing through our home page on the way to our internet banking or bill pay pages.  Others of you are simply visitors to our website.  Either way, we’re glad you are here!

            There are many good things going on here at First Community Bank.  I’d love to tell you about them, but my senses tell me that the economy is mostly what people are interested in, or concerned about.  In the media they refer to “Wall Street” and “Main Street” so I’ll use their terms.  The housing slump that began a couple of years ago was definitely something that we felt around here in Elmore and Autauga Counties (Main Street).  To some degree that slump still continues, but I sense that we are slowly pulling out of it. 

            What is occurring now, the meltdown of some of the largest financial firms in this country, is largely being felt, and played out, in New York City (Wall Street) and other large metropolitan areas in my opinion.  The real key is our government’s ability to keep the problems of Wall Street from filtering down to Main Street.  I remain confident that democracy will, once again, prove itself to be the greatest form of government on earth.  I’m sure the plan that is ultimately approved, while not perfect, will be the best plan we could have come up with at the time. 

            While all of these issues are being sorted out in New York and Washington, D.C., First Community Bank continues to operate on safe, sound business principles.  With only two months left in 2008, we are on track to have another record year here at FCB.  We continue to receive four star ratings from Bauer Financial (www.bauerfinancial.com) and Bank Rate (www.bankrate.com).  Both of these companies give independent bank ratings.  I am confident that your hard earned money is safe at First Community Bank.
